Busy Busy Busy

WOW what a busy week. Learning a new job an helping with VBS has totally exhausted me.

Might i say 'I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVE MY NEW JOB'. I never want to go back to data conversion. Hopefully i won't have to. Everybody else that has ever taken a detail up here is still up here so I want to stay too. They are supposed to put jobs up on the board to bid on so we will have the experience and have already been trained so so so....i can only hope. They already told us the detail could be extended. i sure hope so. OH...and did i tell you that i have my own cubicle....i don't share it with anyone. I can put up pictures and decorate it any way i want. I have a 3 drawer cabinet and a 2 drawer cabinet and two overhead cabinets, my own computer on which i can send emails to anyone i want to, just can't go on the internet cuz it is just intRAnet and the internet is prohibited (government and all) and anything that is emailed to me can be monitored so if you email me...no naughty stuff ok hahaha. If you ask me i will give you my email address. I have emailed Mel already so she has it. Did i say i LOVE this job? There is no pressure like in the other department..no pushing to get stuff done. And since there is no pushing...you just get it done and enjoy doing it. So without the pressure...no stress...no stress...no stress. Ahhh....I love it.

So this week was VBS and i was helping in the craft room again. It was fun but exhausting. I was with the 4th, 5th and 6th graders this year so i didn't have to help them AS much as with the smaller ones. They did good with the first 2 crafts which were very simple. Day 1 was a sand project. They put different colored sand in a test tube (the theme was POWER LAB) with a rubber stopper and a key chain type clip on it. Then day 2 was a super bounce ball. It wasa powder like stuff that you poured into a mold and submerged into water for 2 minutes and then take it out and let it sit for 2 minutes and take it out and kind of roll it between your hands and its done and it bounces crazy cuz the mold had flat surfaces and it was super cool. They loved it. Day 3 was slime. It came with a beaker with a lid that you mix it in. Put the powder into water in the beaker and shake it for 2 minutes. Let it sit for 2 minutes and its done. They took it out and played with it for a while. Then came the day of total disaster. It was only a cross neclace made of beads and string...butttttttt....it was also the night we were supposed to play a game and tell a bible story, which Betsy did with the first group. (which by the way was our biggest group) She played the game and the story and then we started the neclaces which were far too difficult for the kids to do and everyone was yelling for help and there were only 3 of us (and one didn't know how to make the neclaces) and 5 tables of kids. OH MY. The bell rang and we had just gotten started with their projects. So they had to take them home not done. We sent the instructions but not sure any of them will finish them. The next group came in before we could even get the tables set up. We started right in on the neclaces this time but it was also our second biggest group. Joy still didn't understand how to make the neclaces so she wasn't a big help but she did what she could. This group only got half way through theirs. I kept a few of the girls' and finished them for them. The last 2 groups were the only ones to finish theirs (and they were really small groups so we could do the helping easy). We couldn't figure out why they planned the game and bible story on a night with such a hard project. Day 2 and 3 would have been much better cuz they had so much time left over after their craft they were rowdy. Anyway day 5 was signing the soccer balls we were sending to South Aftica kids and coloring a picture on the book that went with them telling how to play soccer in thir language. We then made prayer bead bracelets which was very easy...just tie a knot in the stretchy string and put on a bead...knot..bead..knot...bead...5 beads and then it was done. All the groups got theirs finished. I never realized how many kids can NOT tie a knot. All in all it was a pretty fun week but i am glad its over.

And did i tell you i LOVE my new job?? hehehe.

Hey, congratulations! It is wonderful that you have a job you love. Is it full time? I am so happy for you! Helping with kid's crafts is right up your ally too. Sounds like you had a good time in spite of the hurrying of one craft. Hope you can stay in this job too. Let us know when you know.
